Students usually have a tendency to overmark or undermark. They must be provided with a criteria to assess their performance. Personal grudges and friendships must be guarded against during assessment so that the assessment activity can be performed as objectively as possible. Self-assessment must always be supplemented with peer assessment to lend more credibility to it. The teacher must also ensure that the criteria provided must be well explained to the students and if documented, must be in an easy to understand language.
