Vanessa, I downloaded the StoryCorp iPod application and was blown away! Not only can you easily access stories, but it has a guide to set up interviews, sample questions to use during interviews, a voice recorder to do your interviews and links to upload them. VERY COOL. I would love to develop a unit plan (or staff development course) centered on Story Telling and delivered entirely on an iPod/iPhone...if I just had a few more hours in the day.
I'm teaching a Digital Storytelling course through PBS. I wanted to share this with you from one of the students.
This tiny video gives students a quick glimpse of a variety of art-related careers available.
Special thanks to the cub scouts who are required to ask their art teacher about art careers.

This is an interesting way that a kinder teacher used digital storytelling to reenforce a visit they had from an author. We to just had a visit from an author and I am going to do this with my students. I will post it here as soon as we get it done. I am very grateful for the internet and all the sharing that takes place because this is not something that I am 100% comfortable with but if others can do it so can I.

Here is what they say, "Everyone has a tale to tell. Bring out the writer and storyteller in your students by helping them enter The Hub Create a Story Contest. You put together groups of students, give them a few Hub characters to choose from and a couple of prompts, and they do the rest. Where the plot goes is entirely up to them.

I'm hoping to enter a few of my students into this contest. Right now they are writing stories about water molecules traveling through the water cycle from the viewpoint of the water molecules. If they come out really creative I'll have them make digital stories out of them. I have a variety of IPad apps for this so I guess I'd better get busy deciding which one is best for this type of story and my kids!
