With the new production of Smart Phones, Androids and iPhones- there are also many apps that have been created to assist our efforts to more productive and efficient in our daily lives. Please share an "app" with us that has transformed your world personally or your classroom practice professionally.
This post certainly caught my eye. I thought I was the only one without an iphone. I chose the Droid route and absolutely love my HTC EVO. I have not used it in the classroom yet but could not live without it personally.
My boss is an iphone user and he was very impressed with the phone as well. Trust me I got several comments on my prior phone which was a touch phone but was very inferior to the iphone.
I would love to hear the comments and see the apps that are posted here. We also get to welcome Smoke to the world of smart phones as she finally decided to join us....and if I am not mistaken she went Droid too! woo hooo.
I was very surprised to see that many of the apps I installed are very similar to the iphone/ipad apps which is great for me as I do have an ipad.
Probably my favorite feature is the google calendar! It is great to be able to add and organize items on my calendar on my desktop and it go straight to my phone. I know you have probably discovered a million apps already. What is your favorites?
I bought a Samsung Fascinate, an Android based phone and just love it. My favorite thing on the phone is the swype technology for texting and note taking. I can swype much quicker than pecking the keyboard. As far as apps., some of my favorites are/have been:
Dropbox (my favorite right now)
Christmas Shopper (my favorite during the holiday season)
I agree with you both lovely ladies! I too love my android phone - I havea Samsung Galaxy and I am just uncovering the potentital of this small and sleek pocket wonder. I just came acrosse this tweet today of a sneak peak of a new and upcmoing Android 3.0 tablet. It tis amazing all of the new technology coming to be. But the andriod apps with the blend of Google marketplace is going to rock our world with free apps! http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1ZsVnm/www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPUGNCIozp0
I too love my android phone. I have the fascinate and I may be a bit app crazy! It is good to hear that not everyone in the INTEL community is completely sold on Apple. My current favorite apps are:
MK remote is a two part system. First, there is the app that you install on your device. The second part of the system is the software that you install on your computer. The software is a free download from http://www.devbury.com . After installing the app and the software, setup takes a few simple steps.
Hope this helps a little!
In my view Google App Inventor is the application that will change the educational landscape. It is a totally constuctionist tool designed in the best Logo/scratch traditions, available on millions of Droid phones!
Have any of you droid users run into Bluetooth file sharing problems. On my old phone I could Bluetooth a file very easily. Now when I set up my devices, I see they are paired but not connected. I have read a little about it, but most posts I have read are about Bluetooth headsets. I need to be able to Bluetooth files. Any advice you can give? This was such a great feature of my older phone.
I have the Samsung Fascinate and have had no trouble sending it files via bluetooth. I have not yet been able to send files from it to my computer via bluetooth. Until I figure it out, I'm utilizing dropbox and evernote to transfer my files. If you find a solution to the bluetooth issue, I'd love to hear it!
Here are a few more resources to support your android educational apps for teaching and learning to explore over the weekend.
