You probably already know about Blurb’s a wonderful online picture book editor/creation tool, but now they have a tool that allows you to create picture stories on the “fly”. Blurb Mobile lets you create and share short media stories using your iPhone. You can use the iPhone’s tools to capture photo, video and audio or simply Import media. The program lets you sequence your media to create and narrate a story. Simply tap to share. Great potential. Maybe there will be an iPad version soon. Visit the Blurb Mobile website at: http://www.blurb.com/mobile . I love their website slogan…Stories Are Everywhere.
I know someone else has already shared this link but I have a twist to add to Storybird. After students have created their stories they have the option to purchase the pdf, hard cover, or soft cover of the book but if you use a screen casting option while under the publish tab you can read the story, while flipping the pages and recording the whole production! This works easily with Jing but for me I use the recorder tool in my SMART floating tool bar because I don't have to install any other software and worry about network issues. Then the book is saved in a video file and can be played back, e-mailed to a parent, viewed on an ipod, etc.
The animation effect works in this animation. Thanks for sharing. I thought I'd share a math "story"; created by a group of 3rd grade students using Photo Booth on a Mac.
I seem to have a problem embedding resources in Engage, but you can click on this link to view the video:http://youtu.be/K27C667D6uQ .
I have been looking at the digital storytelling, and I am excited about all of the possibilities at the elementary level. It is a true saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. I envision students using this medium to document many projects, ideas, and occasions. Thank you for sharing, and everyone else who added to the discussion. This is great, and I am already planning.
