I like the idea of VoiceThreads for digital storytelling. Another tool we use in our county is Flip Cameras to create short videos to do book talks with; similar to how Reading Rainbow did years ago. The students enjoy creating their own "scripts", set, pictures, etc. The students share these with other students at school to interest them in reading a book they enjoyed. The possibilities are endless!
Digital storytelling is an awesome way to encourage students to produce creative writing. Allowing students to create their own stories to share with others is a great way to incorporate technology in the classroom, improve fluency, reading and writing skills. The possibilities for creating stories are endless. Here are just a few sites that provide some useful resources and information:
We created this thread as a place to post digital storytelling resources and examples. Share any resources or digital storytelling examples that you, your colleagues, or your students created. We would love to see tons of examples and hear about the tools/resources you used to create your stories. Feel free to share a link, upload a file, or embed a video here in the thread.
Be creative and Tell US Your STORY.
Sometimes it is important to focus on the text so students don't get caught up in adding images. Class tools has a virtual book that will allow students to create storeis, save them and embed on a web page, blog or wiki. It can be found at: http://www.classtools.net/education-games-php/turningPage
