Hi everyone. I am a 4th grade teacher in Austin, Texas, USA. I would love to Skype with a class that has students around the same ages
as mine. They are about 10 years old and we study Science and Language Arts, in my class. I was hoping to have our students share some of their "personal narratives" with each other. Our new school year starts in mid August, so I will be ready to roll in around October.
My Skype name is alicialteach. Thanks!!
Vanessa, this is a great idea. I am wondering if there is a way that we could create a chart where people could fill in info on grade level they teach and areas and age they are interested in connecting with and their skype name etc and people could update it possibly in a google doc or if there is a way to do it within the engage community. It can be time consuming to scroll through everyone but if you could search it by grade level, location etc. it might be easier. Not sure if there is a tool in the community that we can use.
JoAnn created this spreadsheet to allow us to collect our global connections.

Now that the majority of schools are embarking on a new year, let's get those global connections started. Don't forget in addition to completing the spreadsheet, make those first contacts. Be the first to contact someone to start a global project. I can't wait to hear about them.
I want to share the following project that I did last year and have just registered for this year. It is open to all grade levels from all over the world. The neat thing is that we have a common project and can Skype/collaborate with others about our findings. It is interesting to have the students compare what they found in their one square meter of earth. Vanessa thought this might be a project that this group could do.
Square of Life: Studies in Local and Global Environments is an Internet-based collaborative project in which students will investigate their local environment and share that information with other students from around the country and the world. Participants will:
