Hope to see you online today at 12 noon or 7pm EST! Our next #EngageChat is April 2nd & focus on Primary Students and 21st Century Classroom Projects!
We are going to start a new Twitter chat for the Teachers Engage community and would love to have you be a part of it! It'll start today at 12 EST and be followed up every 1st Monday of the month with 7pm EST Twitter chat as well. We think that increasing communication for our community will provide educators with additional opportunities to communicate and collaborate.
We'd love to add YOUR NAME on the list of our Intel Engage teachers!
Please respond to this thread with your Twitter ID and we'll get you on the list quickly!
If you have never usde Twitter before, it is a micro-blogging Web 2.0 tool that allows you to share information, links and resources with others in a 140 character format. By adding #engagechat at the end of a sentence, we can pull that information together and save the transcript easily!
If you don't have a Twitter account, it's easy and free to set one up:
If you have any thoughts, comments or recommendations we would love to hear them. I'll set up a separate discussion forum. For now simply leave us with your Twitter name and questions! Thanks!
My schedule on Monday's is rather full. I, however, will attempt to join the discussion as time permits. I use @gardenglen for my twitter feed.
If you have several people you follow on Twitter, it is easiest to use TweetChat when you participate in a discussion like this. TweetChat allows you to focus on the hashtag instead of trying to find the tag among all the tweets of people you follow.
You might consider adding #engagechat to the Twitter Chat Schedule. This is a searchable schedule that lets others throughout the world know what chat is happening and when it occurs.
May I also suggest you check out TwitterGrader. This site allows you to identify your rank and inflence among the over 10 million people currently using Twitter.
These are great ideas, thank you Glen! I just posted our chat on the TwitterChat schedule.
Don't you also run a Twitter chat during the month? Don't be shy - post it here!
This month's topic is about STEM so that we can tie it into the webinars and corresponding discussions. Future discussions will engage others in topics like 21st century skills and Literacy.
I'm going to include the transcript from two other Twitter resources - The Archivist and TweetDoc! Hope to see you online soon!
I helped start a twitter chat for science teachers. We use the hashtag #scichat for our Tuesday night chats. Lately I've been too busy to be as involved as I have been in the past. Our #scichat alternates purpose on a weekly basis. one week is "open mic" where anyone may introduce any topic - and there may be multiple topics happening at the same time. The next week we have a topic that has been voted on and everyone tries to share their ideas with the group on that topic. We then rotate back to "open mic" week.
I'm sorry to have missed the opportunity to share our Archive with you for today's #engagechat. We keep an archive of the #sciencechat tweets. This awesome resource allows one to go back and review previous week's topics. Hope today's first #engagechat went well, I was unable to participate due to previous commitments.
Thanks for sharing Glen! We are making all month about STEM and STEAM. I have a feeling we'll be engaging conversations all month. The more online chats I visit the more I can share the great resources we have in Engage. It's not easy but well worth it. I'll save your archive for the morning tweetout. Thanks ever so much for sharing your resources. Lots of great resources shared today in return. I'll post them out in a minute.
