CP Physics Spring Video Project

Version 1

    Physics Winter/Spring 2013

    Due April 25 (Thu), 2013

Here are new opportunities for credit towards your final.  This semester, you will have multiple options for extra credit towards your final exam grade.  They are as follows:

    1. Create a Physics Video Commercial (up to15 pts)

Using video clips and photos from class or your own, create a 1-2 minute promotional/advertisement video for our physics class.

    1. Create a Video Documenting Physics Concepts (up to 15 pts)

Create your own short 2-3 minute documentary explaining a physics concept studied or will be studied in class.

    1. Create a Physics Music Video (up to 15 pts)

Create your own short 2-3 music video using an existing song and changing the lyrics to reflect physics concepts learned in class.  Or if you are musically talented, you can write your own music and lyrics.

    * All videos will be graded on the following ( 3 pts each)

    • Accuracy of physics concept (Did concepts make sense and reflect what we learned in class or did you make them up?)
    • Proper Editing (Is the video jumbled together or was everything carefully pieced together with a beginning and a conclusion?)
    • Must have music (Music makes things more interesting.  A soundtrack is a must, even if it’s just background music!)
    • Script (Did you make stuff up on the spot or was a script carefully written out?  For full credit, a typewritten script must be turned in)
    • Creativity (Interesting, exciting, funny, thought provoking? Will people enjoy your video or will they be bored?)

Make sure your video is school appropriate. Do not put other subjects or classes down.  There is a possibility that your video will be played for Advisory.  You are allowed to work in groups of up to 4 for the projects.  Everyone in the group must participate and appear in the video. Yes, group members can be from different periods.

*Be sure to include this handout when submitting video or else (-3 pts).

Accuracy of physics concept (Did concepts make sense and reflect what we learned in class or did you make them up?)

Completely distorted with no relevancy to topics covered in class. You probably need to retake this class.

Slightly distorted, but good attempt.  Ideas were realistic, but more research might be needed.

Facts are headed in the right direction.  Some more clarity needed.

Very well represented.  Facts clearly stated with great relevancy to classroom topics.

Proper Editing (Is the video jumbled together or was everything carefully pieced together with a beginning and a conclusion?)

    Pure randomness all jumbled together.

What started out bad, turned out almost good in the end.

What started out bad, turned good at the end or vice versa.

Very clear beginning and end.  Good beginning and good end.

Must have music (Music makes things more interesting.  A soundtrack is a must, even if it’s just background music!)

    No music at all.

    Some music, but not enough

Some music.  Timing could be improved.

Music throughout and was timed appropriately for each scene.

Script (Did you make stuff up on the spot or was a script carefully written out?  For full credit, a typewritten script must be turned in)

    No script

Scribbly notes that looked like a script were turned in

    Handwritten script was turned in

Typed script with individual character lines was included

Creativity (Interesting, exciting, funny, thought provoking? Will people enjoy your video or will they be bored?)

Boring.  Made me want to throw up.

Interesting, but not enough for me to want to take physics.

Interesting and made me want to take physics.

Very epic and memorable video.  Interesting enough to make me want to take physics.
