What is Energy?

Version 1

It does not matter whether you believe in global warming or not, what is important is that we all do our parts to make the earth a better place to live.  We can start this journey by teaching the different types of energy and the effect or lack of that they have on the earth.  This lesson will introduce fourth grade students to renewable and nonrenewable energy and the advantages and disadvantages of each.  The standards addressed are:

    1. 4.P.3Recognize that energy takes various forms that may be grouped based on their interaction with matter
    2. 4.P.3.1 Recognize the basic forms of energy (light, sound, heat, electrical, and magnetic) as the ability to cause motion or create change.

Please share a lesson that you use to teach energy along with the grade level and standards addressed.
