    Fun Activity - Photo App Game - August/October 2012

For this fun activity we are using the collective genius of the Engage Community to share what we like and dislike about some of the latest mobile apps for education.  We all have our lists of our favorite digital apps, but we’re going to take the sharing one giant leap forward.  Not only will you share an app, but you will demonstrate it and/or explain how an educator could use the app in a classroom, school, or online setting.

Our challenge is centered around photography apps for both Android and Apple devices.   Since 21st century educators and learners think out of the box, we are giving you the challenge to incorporate your creativity skills using mobile photo apps in a virtual photo scavenger hunt.

Here are the basics to the challenge:

      • Each week you will be given a new challenge.
      • For example, week one’s challenge may ask you to take photos of items that represent the word “green.” Week’s two challenge may ask you to choose an app that uses a filter and week’s three challenge may ask you to use an app that has captions.
      • Participants will take photographs that represent that word. For example, if the challenge word was ”green” photos of anything representing green would be appropriate (frogs, trees, ecology, or recycling)
      • Participants must also provide suggestions on how the app could be used in an educational setting.

The word is “ADJACENT” - every photo must represent the word adjacent visually PLUS the image must have TEXT added to the photos (play with apps that allow for captions).  We can't wait to see your photo snaps.

The word is “SYMMETRY”  - every photo must represent the word symmetry visually PLUS the image must include a minimum of 2 photo filters (play with apps that come with fun filters).  The photos are looking great so far, so we can't wait to see more creativity from our community.

The word is “PERSPECTIVE” - every photo must represent the word perspective PLUS the image must have a collage feature (play with apps that allow for multiple photos to be seen in one master image).  We are loving all the creativity of our participants, so keep them coming.

The Photo Challenge has been officially extended!  This week's work is "LANDSCAPE" - Every photo must represent the word landscape PLUS the image should use a filter.  (play with apps that have color and texture filters).  This is the last round, so have fun!

Post your Photo App Review between August 9 and October 10 to be entered into a drawing for an $100 Gift Certificate to purchase more mobile apps.

Note: This drawing will only become active when a minimum of 10 participants respond which means in some cases, the drawing will take place after the above mentioned date. For a complete description and eligibility of Engage community drawings, click on the Intel Bunny Person.
