Why should Financial Literacy be Taught to Our Students?

75% of High Schoolers have the Financial Literacy of a 5th grader.

Most teens graduate and do not know how to balance a checkbook, do a simple

personal budget or do an EZ-Tax Return.  Why is that?  Many school are adding

personal financial literacy to their Math standards and here in Texas administrators

are adding the subject to their Career & Technical Education Program.

What makes a good Financial Literacy/Money Management program?

      > Is it Upbeat and interactive to capture their attention?

      > It addresses State Requirements, Common Core and STEM Goals.

      > It addresses practical skills that students will use in everyday life.

Please share your thoughts and what you use in your school as well.

      Thanks!
