    The Great Ocean Cleanup

      The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch or trash vortex is estimated to cover 270,000 square miles (about the size of Texas) of the Pacific Ocean. While the trash can be hard to see in an image because it is spread out and suspended at various depths, it most certainly has a smell.

Luckily, creative and concerned people are starting to brainstorm innovative solutions. Check out The Ocean Cleanup project. Might it be something students can think about this April?
