    Comic Relief

Comic books and comic strips are being used to engage learners and encourage higher order thinking skills and creativity through projects. A tool that I use in my online class with high school students to post announcements and allow students to select from one of many tools to create projects is toondoon (www.toondoon.com).  Students can create comic strips or comic books using templates or pictures from their hard drive.  It is an innovative way to capture student attention and can easily be used in all subject areas to focus on content, reading and writing. In the example below, students are using toondoon to create a comic book on heroes in science.   How would you use this tool to engage students or . . .  What tools are you using to promote problem based learning in your classroom?
